Invisalign is a teeth straightening treatment. To understand how it works, read on.
Invisalign is quite a popular term in the dental field and you have probably heard about it. But what is it? Invisalign is a brand name for clear aligner sets worn over teeth to make them straight.
Invisalign is an alternative treatment to metal braces.
Invisalign is popular because of its invisibility. No one can tell when you are wearing your Invisalign aligners.
Designing aligners: Your Invisalign dentist designs your aligners uniquely for you. They record:
These records guide the design of your aligner sets.
Wearing your aligners: Your dentist will give you your first set of aligners. You change into a new set approximately every 2 weeks. Treatment can take 6 to 18 months depending on the problem you are correcting.
Straightening teeth: Invisalign aligners straighten teeth incrementally throughout the treatment period. They deliver a force that puts pressure on your teeth. Your teeth move slightly to match the aligners. Each new set is designed a bit straighter and does the same work. By the end of your treatment, there is a significant change in your teeth alignment.
If your teeth are not in the appropriate positions, Invisalign will help you restore them. For best results, wear your aligners for 20 to 22 hours daily.
